THE 3D VIRTUAL CRUNCH
Yup. It's all True.
I was actually really, really inspired by Grey's old Tumblr band (don't know if he wants to mention it by name), it was the first time I had ever considered you can just like, make music on the computer if you want to.. like, you didn't actually have to had gone to art school or took music lessons or know music theory, you can just make shit on the puter and upload to Bandcamp. So it was crazy reconnecting with him and deciding to make tunes together!
I spent most of my teenage years making Flash animations before having a realization at 18 that I don't even really like animating. So I started making music in 2015 after pirating FL Studio, mostly just instrumental, new age sorta video game music-like albums (think a really shitty Vangelis), but had always wanted to venture out and start writing actual Song songs. I was inspired heavily by Vaporwave, George Clanton, John Maus, etc.. but never really had the motivation or courage to craft an album of Song songs. Even though I felt like I had it in me.
Then 2020 happened, not only Covid isolating me but also going through one of the most painful and fucked up times in my life that ended up estranging me from my closest friends.. essentially spending most of 2020 in psychosis. Not to mention I hadn't even realized I was trans yet.. I had a lot on my mind! So reconnecting with Grey, finding out we were extremely similar and had similar taste and musical visions.. the songs just kinda came pouring out. I'd replay the demos over and over while I did night shifts for minimum wage at 7/11 and would imagine more stuff on top, then go home and manically open FL Studio and add stuff and end up only getting like 3 hours of sleep… but the catharsis of writing those songs was genuinely therapeutic to me, there's no other way to put it.
I love 3DVB. I think we could have trimmed the fat a bit but it is literally us pouring our hearts out to you, and I think we both literally needed to make it. I know that sounds silly but it's something I had to make, and it also couldn't have been made without both of us. It's still crazy to me how well our style and musical visions collide.. like he thinks of shit I don't think of and vice versa, and by the end of manically sending WAVS back and forth we have full fledged, layered songs. It's friggin' awesome. You can literally just send WAVs to your friends, have them add stuff and then that's a damn song. And then you keep doing that and then you have an album.
ANYWAY I can't believe it's been 5 years, and I also can't the support we've gotten! It's all meant so much to me.. THANK U TO ALL PUZZLERS AND PUZZLE FREAKS.. WE LOVE U AND WE WOULD NOT BE MAKING TUNES WITHOUT U!!!
